First and second-class stamps will rise by 2p to 41p and 32p respectively on 6 April 2010. Postal costs have risen at rates consistently and substantially above the rate of inflation in recent years with every indication that the trend will continue. The rises have been condemned as especially inappropriate at a time when businesses are looking to contain costs and release resources to fund recovery.
